So @Image_Line has released the Fl Studio mobile product. http://www.image-line.com/documents/news.php?entry_id=1307332924&title=get-fl-studio-mobile to find out all the details.

On first glance I am really liking what I see here. Not so much for crazy mobile creation, but the quick “I’d better get this down before I forget it” type moments. While I know Image Line has probably done a great job on making it as full featured as possible, the old planes, trains and automobile line seem to stick with me. On a flight or train to work or just killing time, you can get down that stupid little hook in your head with what looks like a very nice interface. There seems to be quite a lot of customization as well to tweak to your desire. Built-in quantizing, basica automation for filter sweeps and such. You also control of pitch and velocity on drums and the like. VST’s and using your own samples aren’t in version 1, but like I said, I see this as like having an artist having a sketch book on hand at all times just in case. Price wise it doesn’t seem all that bad. $20 for iPod/iPhone and $25 for iPad. I am seeing this app soar on the iPad. The nice big screen will make using it very nice. Apps like these are the reason for tablets. While a notebook has more horsepower for full fledged producing, it will be the quick on and use tablets that allow for fast creativity.

Haven’t had much time to actually get stuff up on here. At least got around to updating the Dijitek page with links to mixes that have been online just not linked on the site. Enjoy.

If you’re into hardcore and on twitter then you probably are following, have followed or being followed by the pretty much legendary DJ Billy Bunter (@DJBillyBunter). I have long had a problem with a lot of todays UK Hardcore. So much of it revolves around the Hixxy, Re-Con and Darren Styles kind of tip. So many new tracks I hear on www.trackitdown.net are all of this style of hardcore. While a lot of it is good and well done, it just gets over played and made. This essentially is what caused me to really stop pushing to get out and DJ. I just hadn’t been really happy with the music as a whole. Not to say that I don’t love some of the new stuff coming out, its just a general bleh I feel about it.

Enter Billy “Daniel” Bunter to twitter. It first struck me as odd that I get an email from twitter saying he is following me. I figured it was just some random spammer, so I checked twitter and it was really him. Then I figured he would do the normal promoting stuff most everyone does. While yes he does that, he does a lot more. His general excitement and enthusiasm is infectious. Pretty much always positive thoughts and ideas. Nice to see this, especially someone that has been around as long as he has in music. He still gets up every morning excited about what is upcoming. This has honestly for all the “spam” he puts started to get to me, in a good way. I started getting excited again. Then problem though, was the music was still the same. This got me to thinking of what got me into hardcore in the first place all those years ago.

The mix: I started digging around for old mixes, old CD’s, anything I could find online to stream or download. After listening to quite a bit of the old stuff, it struck me that a lot of the newer music as lost all ties with what made it great in the first place. I understand the need to push forward and progress, but when you lose all sight of where you came from it can be a bad thing. So my hope with this mix is to get people to take a bit and look back at the past so they can know the future. It’s not all about clever software tricks, hell everyone has the same “gear” now. Part of the reason for everything being similar. It used to be music was made with what ever gear you could afford or get you hands on. Now everything is just a download away, but I’m falling off the rails a bit. I say to all DJ’s and Producers of what ever music it is you are into, take a moment and go revisit the music that got you into and excited for what you do now. With that I present my new mix. (below)

Dj Dijitek – Remember The Past To Know Your Future

14 older tracks to help re-live a little bit of the essence of hardcore. I really hope people enjoy it as much as I did making it. Nothing but a HUGE grin ear to ear while picking out the tracks and putting them together. So much diversity overall between them. Enjoy. Hit me up on twitter @Dijitek and let me know what you think, good or bad.

Updated the Dijitek page. Added an old mix i found while digging through an old hdd. Guinness fueled happy gabber mix. Some rough mixing but what ever. Did it like 6 years ago or so. Also added/fixed some of the other links. I think adding a link to the “Look at me mix” is new. Same with adding a permalink to Party Alarm. As always, enjoy the Hardcore.

Was hoping to actually get to some project development tonight. Both for new site dev and working on some day finishing http://soundcloud.com/dijitek/dijitek-lala-clip3. Hoping to get to at least one of them next week as long as work permits. Really need to start job hunting and get away from my current one. That along with trying to get money to get back into school is rather annoying and time consuming for everything else I need to get done. Oh well, back to scowering the web for any and all webos news.  HP better not fuck this up like they did with Voodoo. Voodoo who you ask? Exactly.  Also a test of twitter integration with the site.

Going to slowly try and split the site (just the wordpress for now) into two areas.  One for Failbear Media and the other for Dijitek.  For now enjoy a new mix.  www.failbear.com/files/Dj_Dijitek_-_Northwest_Ruffneck.mp3
